| Description: | Georgia Relay, the free public service that enables people who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf-blind and speech-impaired to place and receive calls via a standard telephone line, has announced that it will be holding its annual picnic at the J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake in Clarks Hill, SC on Saturday, September 18, 2010. The picnic is free for Georgia residents and will take place from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The event will feature free food and drinks, door prizes and children’s games and activities. Georgia Relay will be present at the picnic to help those in the community gain a better understanding of the organization and the services they offer. The picnic will also serve as a chance for those in the deaf community to network with one another. Please RSVP by Friday, September 10, 2010 to Karin Sack at 706-621-4661. The J.Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake at Clarks Hill is located at 510 Clarks Hill Highway, Clarks Hill, SC 29821. Directions to the picnic: From west: I-20 east, exit #183 (Hwy 221/47) Follow signs to Clarks Hill Lake. When you see the Visitors Center, turn right onto Power Plant Road. Continue past the Power Plant and keep going until you see the dam. The shelter is on the left side. From east: I-20 west, exit #199. Follow signs to Clarks Hill Lake.
